Hello everyone! I'm a new member, and I had an idea for a lovely, blatantly feel good Romantic comedy about a girl in her sophomore year of a New York college who goes to visit her estranged family in Ireland over the winter holidays. There, she will find love and find a connection with her family. I think that the reason she is going to see them is her father passed away the previous year and she wants to go meet his side of the family. My problem is, I'm trying to figure out the central conflict Ideally, I'd like to have the two romantic leads dislike one another to begin with but fall in love in the end. I had a couple of ideas, for example: 1.) Maggie's family is campaigning to raise money to save a local business, while Michael's family are the ones who want to buy it out or take it over. 2.) Maggie's cousin is getting married. I hadn't quite worked out exactly how this could become a conflict, but I thought a wedding might stir things up... or Maggie's cousin recently broke up with Michael's best friend or something. 3.) Maggie's big-city ideologies clash with Michael's small-town mindset. I would REALLY appreciate any other suggestions!! Let me know what you think. I know its all very cheesy and cliched, but I quite like stories like that Fanks! Alexandra.
