Okay... so I'm not the most athletic person in the world. I've been thinking I should get in better shape for a while now, so I thought I'd make it my New Year's resolution. When I was younger, I had asthma, but it doesn't affect me anymore. Still, when I try to run, it gets really hard for me to breathe. I've tried using an inhaler but it doesn't really have much of an effect. Also, when I try to exercise, I sometimes get joint pain, especially in my knees. Has anyone else had anything like this before? If so, do you know of anything helpful I could try?

I also have asthma and when I run I get out of breath easily, so when I excercise I usually go at a fast walking or jogging pace, and take quick breaks when needed. I also try to keep my inhaler close by in case I need to use it. As for the joint pain, I suggest also taking short breaks while excercising. I hope that helps some.

Well, I used to have a problem like this (except the muscles in my legs would lock up after a few minutes of running). So, what I did was run in increments, using the old "run one minute, walk two." Set aside a time to run, ex: 6:00 for fifteen minutes. Begin by running for one minute, and then switch to walking at a fast pace for two. Eventually, you should be able to switch it, and run for two, walk for one (or keep it at two still!), and try to increase the minutes each week, eventually working your way up to running the full fifteen minutes! I did this, and it really helped! Hope I helped a bit, as I now how hard it can be to get into shape.

I also have a bit of asthma, that acts up if I run 200m. Instead of running try push-ups, squats, sit-ups, burbies, and stuff like that. But if your not into that try joining swimming, it doesn't make my asthma act up, so hopefully not yours either. Or instead of having cake for dessert try a fruit salad. Or instead of a bag of chips, have an apple! Good luck!!

Great advice everyone!
I don't have asthma but I'm a really lazy person so to keep in shape, I just don't eat after 8pm...(you body doesn't burn off fat as quickly in the evening as it does in the morning, so eat loads first thing lol) I also try to do sit-ups every now and again, running is just not my thing XD
