Yeah I love the idea. I think there should be a photography competition. Showing off your angles e.c.t.

How 'bout a simple "Best Photo Contest". People submit entries of anything they wish and we vote on them.

How about...'Perfect Pictures'?

yeah we could theme it each week. for example, one week the theme could be to take a photo portraying that very first day of school... it wouldn't have to be photo-edited either as, like Munchie said, it could be focused on the camera angle.

What about instead of making this a contest, we make this into a sort of practice place?
We could have weekly assignments, and people could decide whether they want to try out the assignment or not... For example Week 1 the assignment is to make a picture around the concept 'dream'. Week 2 could be 'family' etc etc
Not as a contest but to get practise in and get commentary from people on your pictures? We could do the same for writers, make them write a paragraph of max. 500 words (I'm just saying something) about a certain theme, mood, or something. Whatcha think?

thats a great idea! i think it should be an 'if you feel like it this week then enter' sort of thing rather than an ongoing contest like NTM. and this way it might help others improve in all sorts of areas. We could have one week a photo contest, the next week a writing one and so on. personally i would find it really useful to get feedback on those areas and it sounds like a great challange if we are constantly changing the theme! Lets do it people!

Alternating editing and writing seems like a good idea I think it'll be really useful, but I'm not going to make it into a contest - it'll be more of a practice playground where you can have fun, get ideas and get critiques on your work

how would that work then? would someone be moderating the thread whereby they'd post the theme then critique all the entries? or would it be the members posting their feedback on what they see?

Mabye she needs mo moderators because the moderators she has are all busy as well. I love the idea. I also like the fact your not judged at it. Just a chance to show off what you got. The alternative idea. GOOD.
But how long will each contest have so you can do it. 1 week mabye 2?

I like this idea. I think since its just 'practice', everyone should contribute their opinions. It would give you various points of view. Personally constructive criticism from friends encourages me to do better.

I'm guessing its just a week. it isn't a proper contest, just practice and being as it comes out every week, you probably have less than a week to do the entry.
